The Wave Project is pioneering the way we harness the power of the ocean though surf therapy. It's the first of its kind in the UK to use surfing in the form of therapy and in 2018 it became the world's first charity to offer 'surfing on perscription' via the NHS.

It's with this shared love for the ocean and waves of determination to help others, that's inspired and drawn us to support The Wave Project and their vision: To make surf therapy available to any child who needs it.

The Wave Project takes children and young people from all backgrounds experiencing mental, emotional, health and social challenges, offering surf therapy as a form of therapeutic support. Their aim is to change the lives of young people by using surfing, peer mentoring and friendship; giving them the skills, confidence and self-belief they need to achieve their goals, no matter what additional challenges they face.

Surf therapy is at the core of what they do, as well as offering Adaptative Surfing, Beach School, Wave Rangers and Surf to Work.

To help support their work across the UK, we have committed to a three year partnership of financial investment and fundraising activities throughout our store network.

We are thrilled to be working with the team at Saltrock on so many different levels and see this as a great partnership. The staff team are already committed to helping us achieve our vision of expanding our surf therapy to ensure that it is available to even more children across the UK. The cost of living crisis is going to have devastating effect on children’s mental health and thanks to our partnership with Saltrock we can help those who need us most – be that through staff fundraising, volunteering or raising our profile so that more families know about the support we can give their children.

Susie Croft, Head of Fundraising, The Wave Project.

We’re passionate about giving back to our local communities and this partnership allows our teams across the country to get involved, which will be challenging and rewarding. Many of our team members love the water and some are keen surfers and swimmers; this is a wonderful opportunity to get hands on experience with their programmes and choose how they want to support them, in the water or out.
